fREEDOM TO live

Our communities deserve to live freely and without fear. Whether you are a Black man at a traffic stop, an undocumented woman leaving her place of work or a child in Gaza or the Congo, you deserve to live and breathe without fear of state violence or deportation. Realizing this pillar looks like:

  • Strengthening and passage of the George Floyd Justice in Policing Bill, ending qualified immunity, the enactment of a national ban on no-knock warrants and passage of the End Racial Profiling Act

  • Enforcing the Leahy Laws and prohibiting the U.S. Departments of State and Defense from providing military assistance to foreign security units that violate human rights with impunity.

  • Ending gun violence.

  • Ending mass incarceration.

  • Providing guaranteed adequate and affordable housing to all.

fREEDOM TO VOTE

Our communities deserve access to fully participate in democracy without any obstacles. A strong and vibrant democracy requires protections and expansions of our current system. Fulfilling this pillar will depend on our successes:

  • Passing the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to restore and strengthen parts of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

  • Enacting automatic voter registration.

  • Reshaping the U.S. Supreme Court.

fREEDOM TO lEARN

Our communities deserve access to a world class education that provides an inclusive and accurate curriculum. Our education system should be based on developing the next generation of leaders and leaving no one behind. Fulfilling this pillar may look like:

  • Protecting and promoting Black American history in classrooms nationwide.

  • Minimizing – and ultimately eliminating – costs associated with attending college and trade schools.

  • Canceling all student debt.

fREEDOM TO THRIVE

Our communities deserve to not only survive but to thrive in the United States of America. We deserve living wages, a prosperous and accessible economy and opportunities for ownership and entrepreneurship. Fulfilling this pillar hinges on:

  • Expanding Child Tax Credit.

  • Passage of a comprehensive immigration reform bill that provides a pathway to citizenship for 11 million of our undocumented brothers and sisters.

  • Raising the federal minimum wage to meet current inflation.

  • Piloting Universal Basic Income in low-income communities nationwide.

  • Ending war in Palestine and Sudan.
